On behalf of Pharmacognosy Reviews (Phcog. Rev.) and editorial team, I am pleased to announce our recent acceptance for indexing in PubMed—an official database of US National Library of Medicine (NLM) for the scientific and technical quality of articles published in our journal. PubMed is one of the indexing services and are archived on PubMed Central, the NLM's comprehensive online archive of nearly 2 million full-text articles.[1] Phcog. Rev. started in 2007 is one of its kind publishing exclusively, high quality reviews in the field of pharmacognosy.[2] The ability to find Phcog. Rev.'s articles through PubMed literature searches will make it easier for both researchers and readers to find, assess, and read them. Indexing by the NLM and accessibility through PubMed Central provide enhanced visibility and easier access to articles. As a result of PubMed indexing, we expect an increase in article submissions. Till date, we have managed this journal with volunteer input and self-financing. We aim to publish quality reviews related to pharmacognosy. To sustain the increasing publishing cost, we are introducing a publication charge for articles accepted by Phcog. Rev. This fee will be Rs. 3500/- (India) and USD 150 (abroad) for review articles, which meeting our author guidelines in format and word count, and charges will be levied only for articles clearing in the peer review process. The fee will definitely support us to continue publishing articles after acceptance and eventually reduce the long waiting time for the authors. We will implement the publication charges for all articles submitted on or after Jan 1, 2012. Presently, many of the research grants have an exclusive amount for publishing the research and review articles published related to it. Phcog.Net[3] and Medknow Publications are striving hard to generate revenue for the journal to sustain; currently, we are not supported by any institute or organization and it is being managed with self-funding and revenue generated from the institutional subscriptions. It is always in my priority to make all the eight Phcog.Net journals free of charges. However in such a scenario, we will end up in huge financial burden. Phcog.Net faces pressure every time, whenever an issue is being published. There is always need of support from major organizations to continue these publications as free of charges.[3] Hence, I request all the authors to support the Phcog.Net journals by recommending it to your institutional library. Currently, we get these costs only with subscription fees. It is my cordial request to all principals of pharmacy colleges to get subscribed this journal and make this valuable review articles available in their library. Although publishing in indexed journals such as Phcog. Rev. is important, we also encourage to cite Phcog. Rev. articles in your future publications and one can also “self-archive” articles at their libraries and institutional repositories, for more details visit www.opendoar.org.[45] The growth of Phcog. Rev. and its recognition by NLM would never have been possible without the enthusiastic support of many authors. We want to thank our editorial board, authors, reviewers, librarians, subscribers, and our readers, who have supported Phcog. Rev. I would also like to thank Medknow Publications and Media Pvt. Ltd, for their untiring support for the journals associated with me.
