Abstract
Intussusception of the appendix is a rare clinical entity and the preoperative diagnosis is challenging. We report the case of a 12-year-old girl with right-sided abdominal pain and concomitant peranal bleeding. Preoperative abdominal ultrasound showed partial appendicular intussusception which was confirmed by laparotomy. Appendectomy was carried out including a wide peripheral cecal ring. Peranal bleeding restarted 7 weeks after discharge and colonoscopy revealed ulcerative colitis. The etiology, clinical manifestations, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches for appendicular intussusception are discussed.Entities:
