Abstract
A pneumoscrotum due to long-term ventilation is a rare entity. We present the case of a 59-year-old man with adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) and long-term ventilation, who required intensive care and had severe subcutaneous emphysema and a pneumoscrotum. Computed tomography revealed subcutaneous emphysema of the neck, chest, and abdomen, emphysema of the mediastinum, a pneumoperitoneum, pneumoretroperitoneum, and pneumoperineum. A puncture of the scrotum confirmed the diagnosis of a pneumoscrotum. The patient died in the course of progressive ARDS.Entities:
