Abstract
Gardenia is widely used in clinical treatment to cure acute and chronic liver disease. But in recent two decades, hepatotoxicity has been reported from gardenia and major components. Based on literature research, the liver protection, cholagogic effect and hepatotoxicity have been discussed in-depth, with the purpose to provide a reference for rational usage in clinical and new drug development of gardenia.Entities:
