Abstract
BACKGROUND: Variety of environmental and individual factors can cause tuberculosis (TB) incidence change. The purpose of this study was to assess the characteristics of TB trends in the period 2004 - 2008 in Taiwan by month, year, gender, age, temperature, seasonality, and aborigines.Entities:

a Incidence rate (per 100,000 population) (2004-2008): Annual regional confirmed TB case/total regional population number [4].
b Prevalence rate (per 100,000 population): Annual regional incidence rate × duration of illness (= 1.3 year) based on Taiwan Tuberculosis Control report (2007-2009) [30].
c Relapse proportion (2007-2008): (Annual regionally relapsed case/total regionally notification case) × 100. Adopted from Taiwan CDC database and Taiwan Tuberculosis Control report [30].
d TB mortality rate (person-1 yr-1) (2004-2008): Annual regionally TB induced mortality/annual regional incidence [4].
