Abstract
PURPOSE: Cyclooxygenase (COX)-2 and matrix metalloproteinase (MMP)-9 play a key role in the pathogenesis of in-stent restenosis. We investigated the effect of a short-term therapy of celecoxib, a COX-2 inhibitor, with or without doxycycline, an MMP inhibitor, after coronary stenting on inflammatory biomarkers and neointimal hyperplasia.Entities:

Baseline Clinical and Angiographic Characteristics
AMI, acute myocardial infarction; LDL, low density lipoprotein; HDL, high density lipoprotein; ACEI, angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor; ARB, angiotensin receptor blocker.
Values are presented as n (%) or mean±SD, as appropriate. ANOVAs or Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for statistical analyses. Values of p<0.05 were considered statistically significant.
*Total cholesterol >200 mg/dL.
Lesion and Procedural Characteristics
LAD, left anterior descending; LCX, left circumflex; RCA, right coronary artery; PCI, percutaneous coronary intervention.
Values are presented as n (%) or mean±SD, as appropriate. ANOVA or Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for statistical analyses. Values of p<0.05 were considered statistically significant.
QCA Measurements at 6-Month Follow-Up
QCA, qualitative comparative analysis.
Values are presented as n (%) or mean±SD, as appropriate. ANOVAs or Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for statistical analyses. Values of p<0.05 were considered statistically significant.
Volumetric Intravascular Ultrasound Measurements at 6 Months
Values are presented as n (%) or mean±SD, as appropriate. ANOVAs or Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for statistical analyses. Values of p<0.05 were considered statistically significant.
Inflammatory Marker Measurement: Comparison among the Three Groups at 1-Month Follow-Up
hsCRP, high sensitivity C-reactive protein; MMP-9, matrix metalloproteinase-9; PCI, percutaneous coronary intervention.
Values are presented as n (%) or mean±SD, as appropriate. ANOVAs or Kruskal-Wallis tests were used for statistical analyses. Values of p<0.05 were considered statistically significant.
