A consistent method to produce lateral knee radiographs.

K M Martensen1.

Abstract

Performing lateral radiography of the knee can be challenging for the technologist because of the problem with superimposing the femoral condyles. There is an alternate method of imaging the knee in the lateral position so that the bony structures are projected to better advantage. For this method, the central ray is angled 5 degrees cephalad and the beam is aligned with the long axis of the lower leg.
