Abstract
The authors study and analyze the ophthalmological knowledge of the monk Meletius of the Monastery of St. Trinity in Tiveriopoli, as they appear in his paper 'De Natura Hominis'. The ophthalmological knowledge of Meletius mainly concerns the anatomy and physiology of the eye. The authors reach the conclusion that Meletius' ophthalmological knowledge for the greater part is compiled from that of the ancient authors; but they define a great number of pioneering medical ideas of Meletius, of which further research could discover the origin.Mesh:
