Bed rest after percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty: how much is enough?

K B Vaught1, C L Ostrow.

Abstract

This literature review explores current research on the amount of bed rest necessary after PTCA. Because of the wide variation in postprocedure bed rest requirements, more research is needed in this area to help advanced practice nurses better care for post-PTCA patients by adapting nursing protocols to reflect evidence-based practice.
