Evolution of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding.

Abstract

This article reviews the use of laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding in the United States today. It comments on the history of the procedure as well as technical aspects of the operation. Short-term and long-term outcomes of the procedure are examined, and the advantages and disadvantages of this procedure in comparison with the laparoscopic gastric bypass are discussed. Copyright Â
