Abstract
In a recent publication, investigators examined the ways in which learners most effectively acquired new knowledge. The authors found that students achieved the most meaningful and long-lasting learning through retrieval practice, a method consisting of taking tests on the curricular material covered as part of the primary learning activity. The findings from this study may be useful in enhancing the ways that we prepare our surgical trainees. Further, these data have important implications as we consider our own processes for lifelong learning. Copyright ÂMesh:
