Abstract
The isolation, structural elucidation, antioxidant effect and antibacterial activity of isoforsythiaside, a novel phenylethanoid glycoside isolated from Forsythia suspensa, were described. The antioxidant activity was estimated using the 1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl scavenging activity method and the in vitro antimicrobial activity was evaluated by the microtitre plate method. The results showed that this compound had strong activities. Owing to these properties, the study can be further extended to exploit for the possible application of isoforsythiaside as the alternative antioxidants and antibacterial agents from natural origin.Entities:
