[Strengths or double stress? Empowering families with migration background and children with disability].

Cornelia Tsirigotis1.

Abstract

Families from migration backgrounds often live in difficult social and economic circumstances. This paper focuses on the resulting strengths of migration rather than increased needs. Systemic approaches can help in dealing with different cultural attitudes and may assist in developing intercultural competencies in counseling. This in turn may support parents in finding their own way of living with their disabled child.
