Abstract
This article reviews the current understanding of how phototherapy, the most widely used treatment of neonatal jaundice, uses light energy to pump bilirubin out of a jaundiced infant. It provides a framework for understanding the often conflicting results of clinical comparisons of various phototherapeutic regimens, and stresses the importance of light intensity in the overall effectiveness of phototherapy.Entities:
