Abstract
Improvements in our understanding of the mechanisms underlying the rejection coupled with the development of novel approaches to dealing with the rejection process have allowed successful lung and heart-lung transplantation. Nonetheless, successful lung transplantation is still limited by acute rejection. This article defines the rejection process and outlines current approaches to preventing and treating this major clinical problem.Mesh:
