Abstract
Injuries of internal carotid arteries caused by high energy trauma are rare but often combined with poor outcome. Blunt trauma to the head and neck as well as the use of newer motorcycle helmets together with crash circumstances should promptly lead to a differentiated polytrauma management with expansion of radiologic diagnostics. This could lead to a reduction of overlooked dissections and an increase in promptly and correctly treated injuries.Entities:
