Abstract
This article provides a useful clinical classification of hyponatremic states based upon plasma tonicity and extracellular fluid volume. The pathophysiology of hyponatremia induced by hypovolemic, euvolemic, and hypervolemic conditions is discussed. An approach to the treatment of each category of hyponatremia is presented.Entities:
