Abstract
Although we still have much to learn about incorporating simulation into regulatory-based assessments, the authors believe that sufficient evidence exists to further advance the use of simulation-based assessments as part of the regulatory systems for healthcare professionals. This position article reviews the current use of simulation-based assessment for credentialing, licensing, and certification programs in medicine, nursing, and dentistry. The findings support the view that simulation-based assessments can make a meaningful and positive difference in credentialing, licensing, and certification programs now.Mesh:
