Abstract
Livedo vasculopathy is a chronic recurrent disease of the cutaneous circulation and is characterized by episodic occurrence of painful ulcerations of the lower leg. These heal slowly leaving small porcelain-white scars called atrophie blanche. Recent research has shown that livedoid vasculopathy is a coagulation disorder classified as a vasculopathy different from inflammatory vasculitis. Distinguishing between the disorders enhances the pathophysiologic understanding and supports the therapeutic rationale. The prevention of irreversible residual scarring is the main goal in treating cutaneous infarction; prompt treatment is required.Entities:
