Abstract
We report a case of ductal adenocarcinoma of the prostate. A 81-year-old man presented with a complaint of microhematuria. Serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) was 18. 44 ng/ml. A cystourethroscopic examination revealed a papillary tumor near the verumontanum. Transurethral resection of the tumor and transrectal prostatic needle biopsy was carried out. The pathological diagnosis was ductal adenocarcinoma and acinar adenocarcinoma of the prostate. The tumor responded to endocrine therapy and radiation therapy. At the follow up at 18 months, the PSA level was in the undetectable range (<0.01 ng/ml), and no reccurence of the tumor was seen. Pathogenesis and management of this rare condition is discussed.Entities:
