Abstract
We report on a very rare case of iceberg tumor. A giant lipoma arising from the deep lobe of the parotid gland led to an infraauricular mass and tonsil protrusion. After appropriate imaging (ultrasound and MRI) surgical resection was performed. Tonsil protrusions require differential diagnostic evaluation. Apart from the most prevalent parotid gland tumors, like pleomorphic adenoma and cystadenolymphoma, one must consider rare lipomas. Malignancy (e.g. liposarcoma) can only be excluded by histological examination of the whole specimen.Entities:
