Abstract
This study examines velopharyngeal, speech, and dental parameters as possible diagnostic aids in 22q11.2 deletion syndrome. It is a retrospective study on 56 individuals. Twenty-one percent had a submucous cleft palate and 41 percent required palate surgery for speech. Common dental findings included poor oral hygiene, multiple carious lesions, congenitally missing teeth, class II malocclusion, and open bite.There are common findings that can aid the dental practitioner in recognizingthe syndrome and make appropriate referrals.Entities:
