Abstract

We present a case of clinically overt acute myositis associated with the initial phase of tick-borne encephalitis in a ten-year-old boy. The diagnosis of the disease was confirmed by detection of tick-borne encephalitis virus RNA in blood prior to the development of serum specific antibodies and the second phase of the disease.
