Abstract
BACKGROUND: In Trinidad and Tobago, the law on the mandatory use of seat belts was passed in 1995, but this law is hardly enforced. The objective of this study was to determine the frequency and predictors of seat belt use by motor vehicle drivers in the country.Entities:

• There is a reporting bias in the reports of seat belt availability and usage by the 33 drivers who do not have seat belts in their vehicles. These 33 drivers had responded that they never (12), sometimes (19) and always (2) use seat belts.
