cDifferences in mean disease duration among 3 types of CJD (sCJD, fCJD, and dCJD) and between sexes were tested by using 2-way analysis of variance. The probabilities were 0.128 for subtype and 0.064 for sex.
Age at onset and mean disease duration by disease subtype in fatal cases

bThe legend for abbreviations of subtype is in Table 1.
cDifferences in mean disease duration among 3 types of CJD (sCJD, fCJD, and dCJD) and between age groups at onset were tested by using 2-way analysis of variance. The probabilities were 0.007 for subtype and 0.071 for age group.

aVariant CJD, FFI, and undetermined CJD were included.
bThe legend for abbreviations of subtype is in Table 1.
cThe sum of these numbers may exceed the total number of cases because more than 2 symptoms may be counted when they occur simultaneously at disease onset.
