Abstract
The asymmetric unit of the title Schiff base complex, [Mn(C(36)H(46)N(2)O(2))Cl], comprises two crystallographically independent mol-ecules. The Mn(III) centre in each mol-ecule adopts a distorted square-pyramidal geometry. Each Mn(III) ion is coordinated by the N(2)O(2) atoms of the tetra-dentate Schiff base ligand forming the basal plane and the coordinated chloride anion occupies the apical position. Four bifurcated intra-molecular C-H⋯O contacts stabilize the mol-ecular structure. In the crystal packing, mol-ecules are linked into dimers via inter-molecular C-H⋯Cl contacts and further stabilized by C-H⋯π inter-actions. The crystal studied was a non-merohedral twin, the refined ratio of the twin components being 0.441 (1):0.559 (1).Entities:

| Experimental. The crystal was placed in the cold stream of an Oxford Cyrosystems Cobra open-flow nitrogen cryostat (Cosier & Glazer, 1986) operating at 100.0 (1) K. |
| Geometry. All e.s.d.'s (except the e.s.d. in the dihedral angle between two l.s. planes) are estimated using the full covariance matrix. The cell e.s.d.'s are taken into account individually in the estimation of e.s.d.'s in distances, angles and torsion angles; correlations between e.s.d.'s in cell parameters are only used when they are defined by crystal symmetry. An approximate (isotropic) treatment of cell e.s.d.'s is used for estimating e.s.d.'s involving l.s. planes. |
