Abstract

In the title triangulo-triruthenium compound, [Ru(3)(C(21)H(21)As)(C(25)H(22)P(2))(CO)(9)], the bis-(diphenyl-phos-phino)methane ligand bridges an Ru-Ru bond and the monodentate arsine ligand bonds to the third Ru atom. Both the phosphine and arsine ligands are equatorial with respect to the Ru(3) triangle. Additionally, each Ru atom carries one equatorial and two axial terminal carbonyl ligands. The three arsine-substituted phenyl rings make dihedral angles of 87.36 (10), 81.96 (10) and 73.37 (11)° with each other. The dihedral angles between the two phenyl rings are 88.08 (12) and 80.15 (10)° for the two diphenyl-phosphino groups. In the crystal packing, the mol-ecules are linked together as dimers via inter-molecular C-H⋯O hydrogen bonds. These dimers are stacked down b axis. Inter-molecular C-H⋯π and π-π inter-actions [centroid-centroid distance = 3.6383 (13) Å] further stabilize the crystal structure.

Experimental. The crystal was placed in the cold stream of an Oxford Cyrosystems Cobra open-flow nitrogen cryostat (Cosier & Glazer, 1986) operating at 100.0 (1) K. IR spectra was recorded with a Matson 1000 FTIR spectrometer in a NaCl solution cell (0.1 mm). NMR spectra recorded in CDCl3 with a Bruker 400 MHz s pectrometer.
Geometry. All e.s.d.'s (except the e.s.d. in the dihedral angle between two l.s. planes) are estimated using the full covariance matrix. The cell e.s.d.'s are taken into account individually in the estimation of e.s.d.'s in distances, angles and torsion angles; correlations between e.s.d.'s in cell parameters are only used when they are defined by crystal symmetry. An approximate (isotropic) treatment of cell e.s.d.'s is used for estimating e.s.d.'s involving l.s. planes.
Refinement. Refinement of F2 against ALL reflections. The weighted R-factor wR and goodness of fit S are based on F2, conventional R-factors R are based on F, with F set to zero for negative F2. The threshold expression of F2 > σ(F2) is used only for calculating R-factors(gt) etc. and is not relevant to the choice of reflections for refinement. R-factors based on F2 are statistically about twice as large as those based on F, and R- factors based on ALL data will be even larger.
