Abstract
BACKGROUND: The influence of socioeconomic status (SES) on cardiovascular diseases and risk factors is widely known, although the role of different SES indicators is not fully understood. The aim of this study was to investigate the role of different SES indicators for cardiovascular disease risk factors in a middle and old aged East German population.Entities:

1 adjusted for age and all other SES indicators
2 p-value: F-test (systolic blood pressure) or Chi2-test (abdominal obesity, smoking). Relevance: bold p-values in age-adjusted models indicate relevant differences of at least one category to the respective high SES category (>= 5 mmHg for systolic blood pressure, OR >= 1.5 or <= 0.67 for abdominal obesity and smoking).
OR, Odds Ratio. SES, Socioeconomic status
