Abstract

Superficial venous aneurysms of the lower extremities are considered rare and their clinical significance is poorly defined. The pulmonary embolism arising from superficial venous aneurysms has been previously reported. In this article, we report two cases of great saphenous vein aneurysm that resulted in pulmonary embolism. Current treatment consists of urgent open surgical excision of the aneurysm.
