Drug-induced cataracts.

.

Abstract

Cataracts are crystalline lens opacities leading to a loss of visual acuity. Cataracts mainly affect the elderly, and are more or less incapacitating depending on their intensity and location. Cataracts are irreversible. They are rarely drug-related but can be caused by a wide variety of medications. The most frequently implicated drugs are corticosteroids, even after local or inhaled treatment.
