Biliary intervention--technique and devices: a commentary.

H Coons1.

Abstract

Interventional procedures in the biliary tree are often considered the most difficult in interventional radiology. Patients are often critically ill and complications are often serious. A discussion of successful techniques and the instrumentation to accomplish these techniques is described. Handy hints are given for some unique and challenging problems. In addition to discussing drainage techniques, there is a discussion of strictures and stone removal, as well as the treatment of high malignant obstructions. The hope is that this review will give a ground-work for attacking these difficult cases.
