Abstract
Virilization caused by ovarian tumors with functioning stroma during pregnancy is extremely rare and has been reported to be due to different types of ovarian tumors. In mucinous cystadenomas with maternal virilization during pregnancy, the stromal cells responsible for hormone secretion resemble lutein or Leydig cells and have been referred to as luteinized stromal cells. Here we present a rare case of mucinous cystadenoma accompanied by virilization, which was also the cause of fetal intrauterine growth restriction during pregnancy and discuss the mechanisms of hormone production in these tumors in the light of the literature.Entities:
