Abstract
Peritonsillar abscess (PTA) comprises approximately 30% of soft tissue head and neck abscesses. Bilateral occurrence in infants is rare. The present case demonstrates a bilateral peritonsillar abscess with a lymph node abscess in a 10.5-month-old infant without the typical clinical findings of PTA. This report highlights the importance of including peritonsillar abscesses in the differential diagnosis of abscess-forming cases of lymphadenitis colli refractory to therapy, even if the classical symptoms are absent. In individual cases, the indication for image-guided procedures to establish the diagnosis of PTA should be made generously.Entities:
