Growth, development, and behavior: confronting the issues of international adoption.

Shelly Baldwin.

Abstract

In evaluating children who have been adopted internationally, health care providers must consider the psychosocioemotional risk factors these children bring with them that ultimately affect their physical growth, development, and emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning. This third-in-a-series article explores these considerations and offers information regarding growth and developmental delays and the potential for behavioral and psychosocial concerns.
