Abstract
A follow up study was carried out in Demo village (Fayoum governorate) for the live births in order to determine infant deaths and their registration during the period from Jan. 1987 to Decem, 1988. The specific causes and other determinant factors related to infant mortality were investigated. Also data about infant deaths recorded officially in the health office through the years from 1980 to 1988 were collected. Revision of the data showed a declining trend in the infant mortality (IM) and under registration of infant births and deaths. The rate of under registration were 2.3% for births and 25.5% for infant deaths during the two years (1987 and 1988). Other related factors to IM in Demo village are discussed.Entities:
