Detection and selection of organophosphate and carbamate resistance in Culex quinquefasciatus from Saudi Arabia.

A M Amin1, H T Peiris.

Abstract

Resistance to a number of organophosphorus insecticides and the carbamate propoxur has been detected in a field population of Culex quinquefasciatus Say from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Cross resistance studies indicate that the same mechanism(s) may produce resistance to the full range of these compounds.
