Abstract
This study used anonymized death certificate data to determine the contribution of specific infections to neonatal deaths in England and Wales between 2003 and 2005. Infection was recorded in 11% of deaths, with two-thirds occurring in premature neonates. Group B Streptococcus was indicated in 32% of death certificates that specified a bacterial infection and in 11% of all infection-related deaths.Entities:
