Residents and research: a three year experience.

The Department of Family Medicine, University of Western Ontario, has encouraged its residents to undertake original studies since 1973. An eight step approach has been formulated; details are discussed. Abstracts of 14 completed projects are presented as examples of topics and methods that are appropriate for residents.
