Tuberculosis: past, present and future.

A L Paine, E S Hershfield.

Abstract

Observation and statistics are offered on treatment of tuberculosis in sanatoria during the lifespan of those institutions with special reference to one where the first author's medical life was mainly spent as patient, physician, surgeon and superintendent.Despite the rapid decrease in morbidity and mortality of tuberculosis, the change in direction, and the change in treatment programs, vigilance is still required. It is only because of the commitment of those involved over the many years in the treatment of tuberculosis that we are now at this enviable position.
