Opting Out Isn't Easy, Even With a Computer.

Abstract

When a 13 member clinic group decided to opt out of medicare and set up a computerized billing system, they discovered many unforeseen problems. Cost of renting the program was one factor, unpaid accounts were another. The group eventually ended up opting back in to the medicare program. This article describes the experience and what the group learned from it.
