Abstract
Uncomplicated lower urinary tract infections are a common entity in family practice, yet their treatment is often unsatisfactory. Symptoms do not correlate well with bacteriology. Many patients are treated in the absence of bacteriological diagnosis. In those with known disease, compliance with therapy may be limited. These problems may be avoided by recourse to effective single-dose therapy with amoxicillin or trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole.Entities:
