Abstract
Schizophrenia occurs in one percent of the population during the reproductive years. Although schizophrenics' fertility is reduced, most family doctors who practice obstetrics will occasionally care for a pregnant, schizophrenic patient. The particular problems of the prenatal period, labor and delivery, and postpartum care of these patients are discussed. The physical, psychological, and social problems of a schizophrenic patient's child are outlined, with a recommendation for careful follow up in the community of both parent and child.Entities:
