Abstract

This technical note describes an arthroscopic technique to enhance visualization during minimally invasive total knee arthroplasty. The arthroscope is used, with the aid of balloon catheter retractors, to allow intraoperative identification of potentially adverse findings, including retained bone and cement fragments. This technique has been used successfully to identify and treat knees with these findings. Although further study and refinement are needed, this technique shows promise in reducing postoperative complications and improving outcomes in total knee arthroplasty. Copyright Â
