Platelet disorders: diagnosis and management.

Platelet disorders are associated with a significant risk of clinical bleeding. These disorders require an evaluation that includes a platelet count, determination of bleeding time, bone-marrow evaluation, and laboratory platelet tests to establish the underlying pathophysiologic process.
