Abstract
Multiple sclerosis, a potentially disabling disease of young adults, is caused by as yet unknown agents. Recent studies suggest a genetic susceptibility factor with a superimposed environmental triggering or causative agent. New methods of diagnosing and monitoring multiple sclerosis, such as magnetic resonance imaging, are providing new insights into pathogenesis. Important new classes of drugs on the horizon may well help to retard the disease process.Entities:
