Pharmacological treatment of depression in the elderly.

K H Clements.

Abstract

The author systematically reviewed the literature on primary clinical trials of pharmacological treatments of depression in elderly. Studies published between 1978 and 1988 were critically assessed and summarized. She considers the findings of selected studies and discusses conflicts in research findings and possible reasons for differences. The clinical implications of these findings and suggestions for further research are outlined.
