Hypertension following kidney transplantation.

Mario F Rubin1.

Abstract

The majority of patients become hypertensive following kidney transplantation. Its occurrence is associated not only with increased fatal and nonfatal cardiovascular events but also with decreased allograft survival. This review summarizes the current knowledge of the epidemiology, etiology, pathophysiology, and management of post-transplant hypertension. 2011 National Kidney Foundation, Inc.
