The tumor suppressor LKB1 emerges as a critical factor in hematopoietic stem cell biology.

Abstract

How cellular metabolism regulates stem cell function is poorly understood but is an emerging field of study. In a recent issue of Nature, three independent groups demonstrate that LKB1 promotes hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) quiescence and metabolic homeostasis.
