[Fitting hearing aids without an ENT physician?: three case reports].

W Schuchardt1, J Löhler.

Abstract

Fitting hearing aids without primary diagnosis by an ENT physician can be dangerous for the patient in so far as serious disease may be overlooked. Three case reports are presented where acoustic neurinoma, psychogenic hearing loss and sudden rupture of the round window with subsequent perilymphatic fistula were the actual causes of hearing loss.
