[Biomedicalization: considering ethical issues in providing maternal serum screening].

Abstract

The purpose of this article was to explore nursing care within the framework of emerging biomedicine (biomedicalization) trends using the example of maternal serum screening. Five key interactive processes linking biomedicine and caring were addressed, including social impact, value of life, status of pregnant women, professional relationships, and caring attitudes on the ethic of reverence for life.
